Our story starts with a visionary of financial planning in the UK.  Stewart Jones was born a farmer, but a brilliant brain led him from growing champion leeks to the world of financial planning, and he found himself running the Country Gentleman's Association - offering advice and guidance on financial, legal, and insurance matters.  At that time the Country Gentleman's Association had 13 offices around the UK, and Stewart was unable to do the part that he loved - helping members personally with their financial planning requirements.

So he took a bold step sideways, and set up his own financial planning practice - naming it after two of his family names - Morton and Wilson.  Morton-Wilson Ltd was set up in 1988, and along with two colleagues the planning practice flourished, attracting clients from across the UK.  Stewart's name was known across the personal finance industry - as he championed caring for clients' best interests, in a time of commission based salesmen and little aftercare.

James Monro also started life as a farmer, taking over the running of the family farm in Shropshire, milking a herd of dairy cows.  Without knowing it his career echoed that of Stewart's, with a progression through accountancy until he found himself as an apprentice to Stewart at Morton-Wilson in 1993.

As Stewart put in place his own retirement plan, Morton-Wilson Associates Ltd, as it is now formally known, was formed in 2000, led by James from 2005.  The high standards of financial planning that Stewart had introduced are still at the core of how James has provided personal financial advice ever since.

​

In 2016 Emma Jones joined the company, completing an apprenticeship to James by 2020.  Emma has continued to study, and is currently working towards Chartered Financial Planner status.

​
